Birangana Sati Sadhani Rajyik Vishwavidyalaya (BSSRV), Golaghat marked World Environment Day with great enthusiasm and environmental commitment through a plantation drive under the theme “Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam.” The programme was organized by the NSS Cell, BSSRV in collaboration with the Environmental Science Programme of the university.
As part of the celebration, more than 200 saplings were planted across the newly built permanent university campus by faculty members, students, and NSS volunteers, symbolising their collective commitment towards environmental conservation and sustainable development. The plantation initiative reflected the spirit of the nationwide campaign “Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam,” encouraging individuals to plant a tree in honour of their mothers while contributing to environmental preservation.
The programme was graced by the Hon’ble Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Singhaih, who inaugurated the plantation drive by planting a sapling and encouraged the participants to actively contribute towards environmental protection. Faculty members, students, and volunteers enthusiastically took part in the program and pledged to nurture the planted saplings for a greener future.
The event also served as a platform to raise awareness about the importance of afforestation, biodiversity conservation, and sustainable living practices. Through this initiative, the university reaffirmed its commitment to environmental responsibility and community participation in creating a cleaner, healthier, and more sustainable environment.
The programme concluded with a vote of thanks extended to all participants, volunteers, and stakeholders whose support ensured the successful execution of the plantation drive.
