National Conference on Contemporary Trends of Research in Humanities and Social Sciences

The Department of Sociology and Department of Assamese of Birangana Sati Sadhani Rajyik Vishwavidyalaya (BSSRV) organise a two-day national conference on “Contemporary Trends of Research in Humanities and Social Sciences” on March 19-20, 2025. The conference was organised in collaboration with the university's Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) and Research and Development Cell and was funded by the Indian Council of Social Science Research (ICSSR).

Honourable Vice-Chancellor of the university, Prof G. Singaiah, inaugurated the conference, and Dr Partha Pratim Borah, Head-in-Charge of the Department of Sociology, welcomed the gathering and introduced the theme of the conference.  A plenary of three keynote speeches of the national conference was delivered by distinguished academicians Prof. Rabin Deka from Tezpur University, Prof. Mridul Bordoloi from Dibrugarh University and Prof. Amiya Kumar Das from Tezpur University. All the keynote speakers graced the occasion with insightful lectures on recent trends in humanities and social science research. Various technical sessions of the conference were chaired by Dr Prafulla Kumar Nath (Assam University), Dr Kuheli Das (Dibrugarh University), Dr Debabhuson Borah (BSSRV), Dr Ranjan Bhattacharyya (D.C.B. College) and Dr Hriday Ranjan Kalita (GMC, Deithor).

Altogether, 42 scholars presented their research works at the conference from various universities, including Gauhati University, Dibrugarh University, Birangana Sati Sadhani Rajyik Vishwavidyalaya, Assam University, MSSV Nagaon, Amity University and various other institutions and colleges. Overall, the seminar was successfully coordinated by Dr Partha Pratim Borah, Dr Tapan Saikia, Shofiul Alom Pathan from the Department of Sociology and Dr Parismita Hazarika from the Department of Assamese, respectively. The active participation of the students from both the Departments of the university was highly appreciated by the research fraternity.
