About Equal Opportunity Cell
In compliance to the philosophy of equitable justice enshrined in the Constitution of India, UGC has extended the services of SC/ST Cell to OBC minority and disabled students. In line with UGC guidelines, University has decided to constitute the Equal Opportunity Cell with immediate effect with an objective to address the issue related to the students belonging to Scheduled Casts, Scheduled Tribes, Other Backward Classes, Minorities and the Persons with disabilities (PWDs) on a Continual basis and empower such students to participate fully in the academic, Intellectual, Social and Cultural life of University on equal basis
Purpose of an Equal Opportunity Cell
The primary aim is to ensure equity and equal opportunity to all students and staff members, especially those from marginalized or underrepresented groups.
Key Objectives
Promote Inclusivity:
Encourage a diverse and inclusive environment on campus.
Sensitize the academic community about issues of discrimination and inequality.
Support Disadvantaged Groups:
Provide guidance and support to students from Scheduled Castes (SC), Scheduled Tribes (ST), Other Backward Classes (OBC), Persons with Disabilities (PwD), minorities, and economically weaker sections.
Implement Government Policies:
Oversee the implementation of UGC, Government of India, and institutional policies regarding equal opportunity.
Redress Grievances:
Serve as a platform for addressing complaints related to discrimination or unfair treatment.
Awareness and Training:
Organize workshops, seminars, and training programs on issues like gender sensitization, caste discrimination, and disability awareness.
