A two-day event titled "BSSRV Startup Ideathon 1.0" was held on 28th and 30th June 2025 at Birangana Sati Sadhani Rajyik Vishwavidyalaya (BSSRV), Golaghat. The program was organized by the Societal Business Incubation Centre (SBIC) in collaboration with the Institution’s Innovation Council (IIC) of BSSRV. The Ideathon served as a dynamic platform for the outgoing batch of postgraduate (PG) students to present their innovative business ideas and entrepreneurial skills.

The event was inaugurated by Prof. G. Singhaiah, Hon’ble Vice-Chancellor of BSSRV. In his address, he emphasized the Vishwavidyalaya’s mission and vision in fostering an entrepreneurial ecosystem among students. He further highlighted that to instill such a mindset, a compulsory core course on Incubation and Entrepreneurship has been incorporated into every semester of all academic programmes. As part of this initiative, students are encouraged to develop original and impactful business ideas in their final semester, which are then assessed by domain experts.

Dr. Rubul Kumar Bania, Chairman of SBIC and President of IIC from the Department of Computer Science, also addressed the gathering. He underscored the significance of business incubation, entrepreneurial skill development, and nurturing an entrepreneurial mindset among students.

On 28th June, the student teams presented their ideas before a panel of evaluators comprising Dr. Tridib Kumar Borbora, Scientist at the Assam Agricultural University – Sugarcane, Medicinal and Aromatic Plants Research Station, Buralikson, and Mr. Dilwar Hussain, a leading entrepreneur in the Agarwood industry.

The second round of evaluations, held on 30th June, featured Mrs. Junjun Saikia and Mr. Pranjal Saikia, Proprietors of Badulipara Eggs Private Limited, Golaghat; Mr. Pallab Gogoi, a nationally awarded Integrated Farmer from Buralikson; and Mrs. Kavita Borcheita, CEO of Incubation Hub Boscotech, Jorhat.

The three most promising ideas were awarded with cash prizes as a token of encouragement. Startup Ideathon 1.0 is envisioned as a stepping stone towards instilling an entrepreneurial spirit among the students and promoting innovation-led growth in the region.
