The National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF) is a ranking system introduced by the Ministry of Education, Government of India, in 2015 to evaluate and rank higher educational institutions in India based on specific performance metrics.
Key Parameters for Ranking:
NIRF ranks institutions using five broad parameters:
1. Teaching, Learning & Resources (TLR) – Faculty quality, student-teacher ratio, research facilities, infrastructure, etc.
2. Research & Professional Practice (RP) – Publications, patents, research projects, and citations.
3. Graduation Outcomes (GO) – Student placements, higher education progression, and pass percentages.
4. Outreach & Inclusivity (OI) – Diversity in terms of gender, socio-economic backgrounds, and geographical representation..
5. Perception (PR) – Reputation and employer/academic peer perception.
